I recently installed the flowmaster american thunder exhaust on my f-body and here are my thoughts on it.....it was pretty simple to put on, i wouldnt recommend it with just 1 person because holding the pipes and bolting gets a little frustrating, i did have a little bit of trouble getting the over the axle pipe to stay away from the frame of the car, so ive been trying to getout some annoying rattling.....the tailpipes seem to be like an inch shorter then needed to go into the hangers which can be a little aggrivating....
price paid - $260 at summitracing.com
i bought this system because from what ive heard and now i know, you get the bang for your buck....
the sound is a low deep grumble when you fire it up, it sounds mean, and it carries a low tone...at WOT, the noise is amazing, it makes your car sound bad ass, interior sound isnt as bad as some people think, but maybe thats because im used to interior noise (old car, 3 speed....at 85 there was a lot of drone) only problem i saw other then getting rid of that rattling is i had some coins in my cup holder and they shook which got kinda annoying so i just took out the change...simple as that....but overall, i give this product a 9 outta 10.....only reason is it could be a tad louder, but maybe thats cuz im young and have fresh ears

I see your car is a 95, so your okay. Just a forwarrning to LS1 owners, the Flowmaster for our cars, has the worse flow rate of all set ups around and has shown over and over again on the dynos, a 25 to 35 HP loss. However, for you LT1 owners, it is one of the best flowing set ups out there for ya. just some extra info.

Here is a question for everybody. I know the dyno shows a big loss on the LS1 but the LT1 it works great for. What puzzles me is the fact that it is pretty much the same exact exhaust. In fact you can adapt the LT1 version to fit the LS1 and vice versa. Now what makes it suck on the LS1?

I've got this exhaust on my v6 and I love it. The v6 version was very easy to install and it sounds great (for a v6).

When it comes to the V6 (just my comments), I went with the LS1 Flowmaster for the full 3" catback. Easy to install and just requires an extra S-pipe, which can be made by most exhaust shops. And for the price, I couldn't argue.

I have the Flowmaster catback on my LS1. I've always herd that it doesn't flow good? But it does sound/look nice. As for the flow issue, Cutout installed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

yeah, i heard for the ls1, for some reason there may be a loss of low end power, but gain in high end power? but i guess its a lot better for LT1's, dont know why

After I ripped off my stock exhaust I started the car to see what it would sound like with just a cat. Almost decided to not put my Magnaflow on once I heard what it sounded like. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Also note, thaton LS1's, Cat Delete will make your low end TQ drop like a rock, but will have gains on the Upper end.
On the 98&99 V-6's, the cat-delete has no TQ improvements on lower end, but has great improvement on the Upper end.

Well, i use to have a 95 formula, and the American thunder exhaust is what i put on, with some hooker shorties, it sounded great, but killed my low-end,but the only thing i really didnt like was back then, they didnt have stainless steel like they do now. As far as LS1 cars go, you can not beat the setup that i have for a cat back now, Dynomax Bullet muffler, and a custom fabed y-pipe for an exhaust, it is very easy to do, and if you go to an exhaust shop total price is 180, that includes the muffler, custom pipe, labor, and chrome exhaust tips, i gained 15rwhp with it, it sounds like a straight pipe system minus the farting backpressure noise, and when you add LT headers, you wont even need a cutout, because they will sound the same.
if you want more info about the bullet or want to see what im talking about with the set-up look at my website: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/355913/3
