I'm running Windows XP Pro.

I have my laptop that I use for recreation as well as for work. The challenge I'm faced with is that when I use my computer for work and let my other coworkers use it....I leave many of my directories outside of my profile and that leads them to being vulnerable for anyone using my computer.

I have my backup files for Quicken and many other programs to include the entire website and forums backed up on my laptop.

How can I hide directories or password protect them in order to keep them from being vulnerable to everyone's eyes?

do u have user accounts cuz if u are the computer administrater, u can choose the option to make ur files privates so anyone with a regular loggin account can't see any of ur files including programs, thats how i have it on my computer

U can also make the file disapear by going into the properties and click Hidden... close out.. go to my computer and go to tools at the top, folder options, view, then look under hidden files and folders and click do not show hidden files and folders /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Actually, turning on do not show hidden folders can be done in any folder. Just goto tools, folder options then click on the view tab and it will be on the list.

Mark, I have XP at home and I have it set up so that each family member has to log in.
Anything I don't want them getting into, I just keep in a folder under "My Documents and Settings".
Being the admin, they can't get in.
