My dad and i recently decided that the next mod to my 97 T/A would be an upgraded ECU. We figure that would make the most difference in performance for the least money, and it sets a good foundation for future mods. I've heard of people using corvette computers and they say those work wonders. I have also heard that earlier LT computers are more programmable than the later ones (don't know how true this is). I'm looking for something that can take fairly extensive programming, so if you could just leave a suggestion and a price i would appreciate it. thanks for the help.

i would suggest holding off on the computer chip untill you have a few more mods.

but, if you want one now, i would go with pcmforless, or madz28, so that when you upgrade the car, you can get a new calibration for not much money.

optimal computer parameters for the car will change with modifications.

do not go with hypertech, superchips, or any of the plug and play tuners like that. everyone raves about the customer support from pcmforless, so i would go with them.

As a general rule OBD I (94-95) PCMs are easier to program simply because I think there is more experience out there with them. But really, tackling an OBD II (96-97) isn't that tough. I doubt there is much to be gained by swapping PCMs with another LT1...just sounds like a possible headache.
