I got a few scratches on my hood and I cant get them off with the regular scratchx stuff from autozone. I was wondering what other things I could try to remove these scratches? Is there any stuff I can order that would take them out or would I have to have my hole hood repainted? They arnt very deep, but are distinct. My dad said I could oder the paint from GM and just touch it up with a little brush.

Meguiars Professional #9, follow up with #26 or #16. I prefer #26.

Meguiars.com and click on Professional Store.

dont use the touch up paint with a brush, it does a good job from far but up close it looks bad

Im just worried that this stuff wont work. I got the mcquires stratcx stuff from autozone and it didnt do ANYTHING. There has got to be something that will fill the scratch.

Well, it's hard to say what to do without seeing the scratch, but as long as you can't see metal, you are in good shape. I deal with scratches all the time, I work at a carwash /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif . Plus I have a black car.. If The Mcguires professional stuff, or even their basic three step waxing doesn't take it out, take your car to a professional detailer, and they will buff your whole hood out, all scratches for under $50, and like I said, anytime you don't see metal, you don't need to have anything repainted, regardless what any people might tell you, I/ve seen some really bad scratches get buffed out easily. Hope everything works out, nothing is more depressing than a scratch on your baby!

If it's just in the clear coat either buffing it(like SprFstZ28 said) or have it wet sanded by an experienced body paint person should do the trick. I had a scratch that looked white like it went through the paint but really just scratched the clear coat and I had mine wet sanded and buffed and you could never tell it was there. But you do have to be carefull that it's not wet sanded to much b/c factory clearcoats are thin. But if it's all the way through the paint I do not recommend touch up paint like our other member said, it looks like sh!t up close!
