i want to add my ghetto sub from my old car into my formula...i have a 3 channel amp to go along with it....200x1 and 150x2, i wanna run my rear speakers and a single sub, what does the factory amp juice? does it hit all 10 speakers? and is there a whole in the firewall on the passenger side to run the amp wires???

Ok.. what system do you have in your formula.. because the monsoon system has 8 speakers and the front tweeters and midranges in the door panels are run off of the Head Unit... and the sail panel speakers and rear speakers run off of the factory 200 watt amp in the trunk...
And yes there is a whole in the firewall where you can run your power wire for the amplifers on the passenger side.. what i did was i used the pre exsisting hole where the ECU wires enter the car through a gromit... i removed my ECU from its mounting position and placed it somewhere to the side... then i used a coat hanger and taped the power wire to the hanger and fed it through the gromit.. you may have to give the gromit a little slice with a knife to open it a bit if you have a 4 guage power wire like me... but be VERY carefull not to slice any of the wires for the ECU... it is pretty easy to see the gromit from inside of the car so there should not be much trouble there... i then ran the wire under the carpet after i removed the interior side rails and sail panels... and ran the wire all the way to the back of the car... hope this helps.. i will check back to see if you have any more questions.. Good Luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

P.S. you do not want to put 150 watts through one speaker.. unless the speaker can handle that kind of power... just fyi.. i would just recomend using the 200X1 portion for the sub

If you want to use the 150wX2 channels, I would recommend a Passive Crossover, then you can supplement the midbass and treble with a quality set of 6.5" three way speakers or you can just buy a Midrange/Tweeter combo and it all there for you so you dont have to buy an additional Crossover. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm not sure about the camaro's but the firebirds with a monsoon system has 10 speakers, two in each door, a 1 inch, and a 6 3/4in and the ones next to the back seats are also 6 and 3/4 and there is 4 speakers in the trunk two 4's and I am not sure what the other two are but they are tweeters. There are plates available to put 5by7/s there but 6/9's are kink of iffy. I have two component systems in my TA and I found that I get the best sound just leaving the subs as the only speakers in the trunk, now if you don't want to run subs having the speakers in the trunk will work well because anytime you can get sound bouncing off that back glass it is going to be louder.

In the Camaro Monsoon system there are components in the front which are 6" mids and 1" tweeters, the sail panels include just 6" mids, and the rear hatch area includes 4" speakers that are midbass... Personally i would recommend spending the extra money and purchasing some focal 2 way components... consisting of a tweeter and mid... using the crossover provided... clearest sound i have ever heard... and focals are said to be top of the line... and they are imo.... that way you dont even need speakers in the sail panels... and then you can go about getting your own sub, or leaving the 4" midbass speakers in the trunk area /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Im going to suggest something get rid of youre factory head unit and amplifier if youre adding aftermarket equipment 99% of the time you will starve youre factory crap of power for the buitl better aftermarket stuff

Okay. I have a 97 TA, and as you can see I am new to this site. So far, I have added a kenwood sirius head unit, with sirius tuner. I have replaced the speakers in the doors with Kappa Perfect component 6 1/2 and tweets, and replaced the rear speakers with kappa perfect 6 1/2 three ways. Remove the trunk speakers, they have little use. Now, this is where it gets tricky, depending on the sub application, you want to buy either one or two amps. You are limited on space in the trunk for ampage, especially if you want to keep the t-tops holder. If you have a lower power sub, get a combo amp that has a mono out and a 2-way or 4-way out, but if your sub is ultra powerful, then get two amps. If you are one of those crazy guys who builds a giant custom box for two fifteens, then you probably know what you need anyways. Don't know if this helps, but I have seen several f-body sub installs, this set up seems the best.
